Samsung has partnered with Corning to develop UTG glass for Galaxy Fold 2
Samsung is willing to unveil the next generation Galaxy Fold 2 alongside the new Galaxy Note series in August 2020. This time the Fold 2 will be much cheaper, with pricing between $1,780 and $1,880, compared to last year’s $1,980 Fold. As per Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants mention, the fold will go sale in September.
There’re some rumors concerning Galaxy Fold 2, which will feature a massive 7.59 Inch Display with a resolution of 1,689 x 2,213px. The latest stories mention that Samsung has decided to use Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) on the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 phone, just like the Galaxy Z Flip. So, Samsung has partnered with Corning to develop UTG glass for the device.
However, the UTG is much cheaper, and it helps to bring manufacturing costs down. As stated, the company wants to make it more affordable. Further, the Galaxy Fold 2 also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
The secondary display will be improved as well; it will feature a 6.23″ Inch panel with 819 x 2,267px resolution, regular 60Hz refresh rate, and a punch hole for the selfie camera.
The upcoming Fold 2 also support 5G connectivity, the one we have seen on every flagship and mid-range smartphone these days. Besides, there may be a possibility to unveil the 5G version of the Z Flip with this device. Samsung upgrades the primary camera to a 64MP sensor and will be joined by a 12MP (Possibly Ultrawide angle) and 16MP modules.
