OnePlus officially announces the Nord, its first mid-range handset. Even though the price starts at just £379, the phone comes with a lot of common features of it elder OnePlus 8 released just a few short months ago, which released along with the OnePlus 8 Pro, was the company’s flagship handset for this year.
Even though its a budget phone, it still comes with a 1080p OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, Sub-6GHz 5G, Warp Charge 30T fast charging which can boost your battery to 70% in just 30 minutes, and the same 48-megapixel primary camera sensor took from OnePlus 8. The OnePlus Nord is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor which is slower, but comparing the other components, it is well-compromised for the price.
The Nord is available in two colours blue and grey with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for £379 and with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for £469 (around $594). The Oneplus Nord will start to ship widely on August 4 on wide Europe, Unfortunately, it’s only coming to Europe and India for now, but OnePlus says that it has plans to ship limited beta launch in the name of Nord series in the US.
The Nord looks like other oneplus flagship handsets with broadly similar features, but with slightly lower specs. Nord still got a 90Hz refresh rate 1080p OLED display. But a little bit smaller at 6.44-inches, and it doesn’t curve around the edges of the device like its big brothers.
On the back of the OnePlus Nord, its a quad camera setup. A 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The camera you use to take your photos is the same as the Oneplus 8’s 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor. Meanwhile, the wide-angle camera has only half the resolution of the OnePlus 8’s.
The front-facing camera, on the other hand, OnePlus is making new steps with the Nord. Nord comes with two front-facing cameras which include an 8-megapixel sensor ultrawide camera with a 105-degree field of view, as well as a 32-megapixel selfie camera. It means the screen’s hole-punch cutout is twice as big, but still, you can get ultra-wide selfies when you’re with a group of people. The OnePlus Nord includes a very respectable 4,115mAh battery, which is a bit smaller than the 4,300mAh battery in the 8.
