If you are all about the numbers when looking out for a smartphone, Asus ROG Phone 3 might be the answer for you. It’s a smartphone where the specifications are full to the brim that it just blows other flagships out of water. Let’s dive right into the details.

The Specifications

We’ll list out the numbers. Snapdragon 865+ chipset, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512 of UFS 3.1 storage, 6000mAh battery with 30W fast charge support. One thing for sure, you won’t be getting anything better than this for the time being when it comes to raw numbers. The RAM itself is more than most of the gaming laptops in the market. In terms of connectivity, the phone is 5G-ready out of the box and supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 with support for Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, which can improve latency issues.

The Design

The phone is huge and is heavy, thanks to the massive battery. At the front the Asus ROG Phone 3 sports a 6.59-inch OLED 1080p HDR+ colour calibrated 144Hz display with 1ms response time and 270Hz touch-sampling rate. So yeah, the screen is one of it’s kind for a smartphone. But that’s just the beginning. Asus has also given importance to the speakers, which are front-facing stereo speakers that sound amazing. It is the best speaker you can get in a smartphone. And also to enhance the gaming experience you can find the Air Triggers, just like the ROG 1 and 2 gaming smartphones. But this time, the implementation is updated to provide quick response, and it also supports various gestures.

Unfortunately, the ROG PHone 3 has excluded headphone jack this time, which is honestly a bummer considering that it is a gaming device. The zero-latency experience of wired headphones is uncomparable with wireless options. Granted, the AeroActive Cooler provided in the box has a port for headphone. There might be a reasonable explanation like the 6000mAh battery or 5G modem, but I wish they would’ve gone with a straightforward approach here.

For better gaming experience, Asus ROG has launched a variety of accessories that go with the phone, like the TwinView Dock 3, Kunai 3 Gamepad and a Mobile Desktop Dock. You’ll have to pay more for those, but when we consider to whom the device is targeted to, these are some nice additions to improve the experience and have better options.
